In Iran, cruel and unusual punishments have been going on for several years. The Islamic Penal Code states that these punishments are deserved and there is nothing wrong with them. The United Nations has told Iran that these punishments are considered inhumane under international law. Iran said they would quit these punishments, but it appears that they haven't. Citizens of Iran are dying for small crimes that should not be punishable by death. An example of a crime is theft. A common consequence of theft is amputations. Theft seems a pretty small crime to get your fingers chopped off for. The public has started to protest these punishments. Hopefully, these can be stopped and Iran will be a more peaceful place.
